As the curtain is about to rise on the final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2023, RTL Luxembourg is delighted to share in this euphoria with a show-stopping announcement: Luxembourg is making a grand return to the Eurovision stage in 2024!
Thirty years after Luxembourg's last participation in 1993 and forty years after the country's last win we will finally be sending an artist to next year's edition. With no less than five victories, the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg currently shares third place for the number of wins.
Resounding formal endorsement for the country's return to Eurovision was today given by Luxembourg's government. As a member of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), RTL Luxembourg (CLT-UFA) will be responsible for selecting the 2024 delegation – as well as a candidate to represent Luxembourg.
Christophe Goossens, CEO of RTL Luxembourg, says: "We are delighted that Luxembourg is returning to the Eurovision Song Contest – and even more excited that RTL Luxembourg will take on the exhilarating task of selecting the 2024 delegation. As a media company that is dedicated to the people of Luxembourg, we are looking forward to broadcasting the starstudded live shows. Viewers will be able to experience the Eurovision Song Contest in its full glory."
Martin Österdahl, Executive Supervisor of the Eurovision Song Contest for the European Broadcasting Union, shares in the excitement: "We are thrilled to welcome back Luxembourg to the Eurovision Song Contest after 30 years. The country has one of the most successful records in the Contest with 5 wins in the first three decades of the competition alone. We very much look forward with working with RTL on their return to the world’s biggest live music event in 2024."
RTL Luxembourg will broadcast the live shows, alongside local commentary across all platforms. Further information on the candidate selection process and application procedure will be announced in July 2023.

In fact, we've long loved Eurovision.. and we're doing all we can this year, too!
Our plans for the 2024 edition are still in the making - but stay tuned and we'll keep you in the loop.
And for this year: Tune in on Saturday as we'll be doing live ticker commentary during the finals!
