Laura Thorn has been chosen to represent Luxembourg at the Eurovision Song Contest in Basel this May with her song La poupée monte le son.
The winner was determined on Saturday night during the Luxembourg Song Contest at the Rockhal in Esch. The event drew a large audience, including fans, friends, family, and figures from the cultural and political sectors.
The performers delivered impressive acts, but only one could claim victory. Thorn’s performance secured her the top spot, earning her the chance to represent Luxembourg on the international stage.
You can rewatch the entire show on RTL Play.
Speaking to RTL after her win, Thorn said, “I haven't realised it yet. Performing in front of such a large audience was an incredible experience.”
The young singer plans to continue her work at the Conservatoire while also pursuing opportunities to perform live. “I always approach things spontaneously. I don't have a specific goal or ambition right now. I just want to see where this journey takes me,” she said, adding, “When you’re given an opportunity, you have to take the path.”
A fan of French music icon France Gall, Thorn expressed pride in her performance, noting the challenges of singing, dancing, and engaging with the camera simultaneously.
Her Eurovision performance will be based on her Luxembourg Song Contest appearance, though not an exact replica.
There is also consideration of releasing the song in Luxembourgish.
Thorn said she enjoys singing in French and feels it helps her stand out in a contest where most songs are in English.
