Will Luxembourg's 2025 Eurovision hopeful Laura Thorn qualify with her nostalgia and goosebumps-inducing song 'La Poupée Monte le Son'? Some social media users seem to think so and so do Eurovision international experts.

Eurovision Song Contest enthusiasts have been buzzing on social media as Luxembourg’s entry for this year’s contest sparks nostalgia and a trip down memory lane.

Luxembourg had its debut in 1956, the year the singing competition was born. Since then, the Grand Duchy has been represented at the Eurovision 38 times, winning the competition a mighty five times - in 1961, 1965, 1972, 1973 and 1983.

After a 31-year absence, Luxembourg made its Eurovision return in 2024, with Tali representing the Grand Duchy in Malmö with her song Fighter, securing 13th place with a total of 103 points. This year, Laura Thorn enters the competition with "La Poupée Monte le Son" paying homage to France Gall's "Poupée de cire, poupée de son," Luxembourg's winning entry in 1965.

Experts from various countries on Eurovision Hub watched Laura Thorn’s performance at the Luxembourg Song Contest, sharing their reactions on YouTube. Their feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with comments such as "I feel that Luxembourg qualifies this year," "That's already a catchy beat," and "Wow Hello Luxembourg."

Despite analysing every detail and mistake, most experts agreed that Luxembourg has a strong chance of qualifying this year. According to Wiwibloggs, Laura was praised as a "charming performer" who, with the right approach, could even take Luxembourg all the way to the final. Laura's fashion and style also received high praise with her doll-like movements accentuating her performance. The outfit change caused particular excitement amongst viewers as elements of surprise are usually a hit at Eurovision.

According to ESC kompakt readers, Luxembourg got off to "the best start to the new season" as Luxembourg's entry was voted as the favourite to win. Internationally, however, there's room for improvement as bookmakers predict Sweden to win.

But there's still some time before Eurovision returns to our screens in May, where Laura will certainly turn up the 'Son' in Basel.
