Laura Thorn has secured Luxembourg a spot in the Eurovision final, capping off an emotional night with a powerful performance and a deep sense of relief.

Luxembourg's Laura Thorn has secured a spot in Saturday's Eurovision final after an emotional performance that left her both elated and exhausted.

“I went through all the emotions – laughing, crying, hysterical crying, and hysterical laughing... and now I'm just tired”, Thorn told RTL's Loïc Juchem following Thursday night’s semi-final.

Having feared she might not make the cut – especially after several surprise countries advanced – Thorn now plans to enjoy the final without pressure.

In the final, the ranking does not matter as much anymore, I just want to have fun, she said.

Though there was no time for celebration Thursday evening, the singer is staying focused. Friday's rehearsals, during which the jury awards its points, are crucial: "I need to take better care of my voice and myself than ever before."

The music teacher said intense rehearsals meant she no longer had to concentrate as much onstage: "Everything seems to be running automatically, everything's in the body, in the muscles."

Thorn described standing on the big stage for the first time as a powerful moment: "I experienced it like it was the last time." While reaching the final was the initial goal, she said that getting to perform again on Saturday now feels like a "bonus".

After the semi-final it was straight to bed for Thorn, who is looking at a 15-hour rehearsal day on Friday.
